Meet Ilyssa E. Lasky, LCPC
I’ve always been the quiet thinker interested in what others think. So, I started learning about psychology. You know what I found out? We all hurt, we all love and we all want a sense of belonging. I truly love helping people. It has been such a humbling and wonderful experience to hold space for those that are suffering or just interested in learning more about themselves. I am genuinely interested in others and bring a nonjudgmental acceptance to counseling.
I received my Bachelors in Psychology from DePaul University and went to complete my Masters in Clinical Psychology from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Sciences. I am licensed as a Clinical Professional Counselor, and registered yoga teacher. Learn more about me here.

I think the story each of my clients tells is fascinating, and I feel honored when a person chooses me to help them write the next chapters in it. I find great joy in helping my clients become the truest, most actualized versions of themselves. I also firmly believe each client is an expert on her, him, or themselves and we will get the best results working as an equal and collaborative team. I incorporate whatever evidenced-based approach best fits a client and her, his, or their challenges, but I always incorporate person-centered and strength-based approaches into my work.
I received my Masters of Psychology at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology with a concentration in Latino/a Mental Health. My internship involved working with schizophrenia, and as a result there is very little that surprises me anymore. While I treat a whole host of issues, I have two areas of particular focus in my practice: I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and incorporate EMDR as appropriate, and I am deeply involved in caring for members of the LGBTQIA community. My interest in mental health did not begin in the classroom, I found it through dancing.
Dance had been a part of my life from an after-school activity into a college major and then into a job. Over time, I realized that dance was my way of connecting to myself, my emotions, and my body. Whether I knew it or not, I was learning how to listen to my body and cope with difficult emotions. I became interested in how I can help others connect to their emotions, their bodies, and to know themselves.
Life can be unpredictable and sometimes we just need a little extra support. If you are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or you can’t quite figure out what it is you are feeling, we can work together to create a space to address this together. While I am the one with the mental health training, you are the expert on you. Through pairing our expertise, we can find a way to move you forward together. Learn more about me here.

I am very excited to be a part of this journey of self-discovery with you.
Sometimes Finding the perfect therapist is like looking for a needle in a haystack.
I hope to be that needle for you. A common misconception about therapy is that people only need counseling when going through major personal or professional crises. I feel everyone can benefit from therapy to help improve their general sense of well-being.
I offer a safe and compassionate space to work with you.
Together we will navigate the small and big stressors and detours of life. We will access your authentic inner potential and work towards empowering you through a collaborative and integrative approach. Learn more about me here.
